It is astonishing how fragile our Constitution, our polity and our American way of life truly was. Who would have thought that the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA would openly, brazenly and shamelessly be demanding the right to torture other human beings, and would allow, if not enable, high-ranking officials in his Administration to torture?
We the American people have tolerated this outrage since we found out about it in 2004. We have paid our taxes. Nothing has been done. Torture continues. It is time for it to stop.
Fortunately, with Hamdan, the Supreme Court has now shown us the way forward. We must begin to seek accountability for this Administration's egregious violation of law and human rights.
